Suzuki Kingston Musicfest was founded as a not-for-profit organization in 2008, with a goal of providing excellence in music education for students and teachers.  Building on the successful history of More Than Music, a Suzuki Institute founded over 30 years ago by Valery Lloyd-Watts and the late Carole Bigler, Suzuki Kingston Musicfest presented its first summer Institute in July 2009.

We met our goal of providing an exciting, positive and supportive environment in which students experienced the joy of learning and making music. We continued to provide the warmth and nurturing environment of past years.

Our theme in 2009 was music through collaboration: we added a number of new student programs and enrichments focused on ensemble music and collaborative artistry. Teachers were able to polish their skills with our new Piano Teacher Professional Development course.

Sadly, the financial results do not allow us to continue this work in 2010.

We thank all those who came in 2009 to celebrate the joy of sharing music! ...and we encourage you to continue making music part of your life every day.
