a unique course combining class and private coaching

Continue to grow as a teacher and as a musician! This special program for piano teachers will recharge and refresh you both professionally and personally. The daily workshop will provide techniques and tips for re-energizing your studio work with your students. The daily private lesson will allow you to rediscover your musical self through focusing on your personal musical development. You will emerge from the week with new energy and inspiration to take to your home studio - and to your home.
Instructor: Clayton Scott
Eligible Participants:
- current piano teachers of any method OR
- aspiring piano teachers with recognized piano credentials
Program Includes:
- 50 minute daily workshop class for discussion of topics central to piano teaching
Lead by Clayton Scott, this workshop class will include training in musicianship; innovative ways to integrate theory, keyboard harmony and history into the private lesson; preparing students, traditional or Suzuki, to take examinations; discussion of the new RCM* technical requirements; and tips on time-management for studio teachers.
- 25 minute daily private piano lesson: content to be selected in the spring in consultation with Clayton Scott
A participant-driven course of study, this private lesson with a highly experienced, specially selected instructor in the piano faculty could include repertoire study, technique development, ear training, or coaching repertoire required for preparing an audition video. (This video could be used for the Suzuki teacher training application and could be made at the end of the week for an additional charge.)
